Community Guidelines

Last updated October 26, 2026

Tri-Cities Updates is a place for neighbours in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody to share what's happening — events, local news, and lost & found. Every submission is reviewed before it goes live, and these guidelines are what we look for.

Do 👍

• Keep it local. Share things that matter to people in the Tri-Cities.
• Be kind and respectful, even when you disagree.
• Be accurate. Share what you know firsthand, and link to a source when you can.
• Use your own photos, or ones you have permission to share.
• Include the useful details — for events: when, where and cost; for lost & found: where and when, and a clear photo.

Don't 🚫

• No personal attacks, harassment, hate or threats — towards anyone.
• No accusations against people or businesses. Complaints about a business belong with that business, or with the appropriate authority — not in a public post.
• No private information — don't post someone else's phone number, address or photo without their permission. For lost & found, use the site's “Contact the poster” messages rather than sharing your own details publicly.
• No business promotion. Sales, promos and ads aren't community posts. Businesses can be featured in our directory or get a Business Spotlight instead — get in touch to find out more.
• No spam, repeated posts or misleading content.
• No political campaigning, or anything illegal.

Lost & Found

• Posts are shown for 30 days. Found your pet or returned an item? Mark your post as Reunited — we love those.
• Never pay anyone a “reward” up front, and meet in a public place if you're collecting something from a stranger.

What happens if something breaks these guidelines

• We'll decline the post and let you know why, so you can fix it and try again.
• If something slips through, we'll remove it as soon as we're made aware.
• Repeated or serious problems can lead to an account being suspended or closed.
