Terms of Use
Last updated October 26, 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses tricitiesupdates.ca (the “site”), run by Tri-Cities Updates (“we”, “us”). By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Give us accurate information, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person per account. Don't create accounts in someone else's name or pretend to be someone you're not, including a business you don't represent.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
Content you share
- It's still yours. You keep ownership of the posts, photos and messages you submit.
- You give us permission to use it on the site. By submitting content, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, display, edit (for length, clarity or to remove personal details), and share it on tricitiesupdates.ca and our related channels, such as our newsletter and social media pages.
- You're responsible for it. Only share content you have the right to share — for example, photos you took yourself — and that's accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Everything you share must follow our Community Guidelines.
Moderation
- We review submissions before they're published, and we can decline, edit or remove any content at any time, for any reason, including after it's published.
- We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or our guidelines.
- See something that shouldn't be here? Contact us, and we'll look into it promptly.
Business listings
- Listings are based on publicly available information or details supplied by the business. We work to keep them accurate but can't guarantee it — check important details, such as hours, directly with the business.
- A listing isn't an endorsement, and we're not responsible for any business's products or services.
- Business owners can claim their listing to manage it. Claims are reviewed by hand, and we can refuse or reverse a claim.
- Featured placement and other paid options are clearly identified on the site.
Things you must not do
- Break the law, or post anything defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening or obscene.
- Post spam, advertising (outside our paid options) or misleading content.
- Share someone else's private information without their permission.
- Collect information from the site in bulk (scraping), or interfere with how the site works.
- Use the site's messaging features for anything other than their purpose.
Links to other sites
The site links to other websites, including the original sources of news we summarize. We're not responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty
The site and its content are provided “as is”. While we try to keep everything accurate and up to date, we don't promise that the site will always be available, error-free, or that information on it is complete or current.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or any loss arising from content posted by users or businesses, or from your dealings with any business listed on the site.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let account holders know by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
